The electronic music label Exil-System was founded in 1979 in Berlin, Germany. It is one of the last remaining early 80's DIY-labels that evolved from the legendary "Neue Deutsche Welle" movement - aka German New Wave.

Exil-System is particularly noted for bringing out some of the most sought after German electronic music releases of the past 30 years.

One of the label’s first releases was the strictly limited "49 Second Romance" single by P1/E. The record featured fourteen year old Alexander Hacke on drums who later came to worldwide fame with his band Einstürzende Neubauten. P1/E
